Wedding Wednesday: Boho Style Shoot
Stunning vistas, secluded glens of cottonwood trees, grassy knolls lend to the beauty of this prairie backdrop. It gives an edginess to this bohemian bridal shoot at Cottonwood Glen at Kiowa Creek.
THE VENUE Cottonwood Glen at Kiowa Creek provides an outdoor setting of grand patio with flagstone hearth and fireplace nestled on a prairie bluff. It overlooks a prairie vista of cottonwood trees, creeks, trail, and wildlife. The Glen is the ceremony area which is nestled among a grove of cottonwood trees and accented by spectacular cathedral window backdrop.
THE DRESS Cotton Lace gown with hand-draped sweetheart bodice from The Cotton Bride. The Cotton Bride designs dresses for the discerning bride who searches for uncommon wedding dresses made from flawless, magnificent 100% natural fabrics including cotton, linen and silk.
THE INVITATIONS This invitation was created as a laser cut a gate fold wrap from a heavy card stock, based on the cathedral windows in the Glen. The interior invitation piece was laser cut from card stock to match the shape of the center arch. The gates, of the wrap also have cottonwood trees that you see in the openings. The trees were based on the Cottonwood Glen logo. The response card was designed, printed and laser cut to match the shape of the interior of the arches. It was done in the same card stock as the interior invitation piece. Both the invitation and the response card have printed envelopes lined in a metallic rose gold for a bold introduction to the invitation when opened.
ESCORT CARDS Each card was laser cut in heavy card stock with a window that showed the cottonwood trees, again based on the logo from Cottonwood Glen. Below the laser cut out was an additional layer, that matched the invitation layer, that had the guest’s name, meal choice and table assignment. These were offset scored so that they would be easier to read when standing at the table.
TABLE NUMBER This was designed to match the arches from the invitation and was laser cut from a smoke acrylic to go along with the dark grey of the invitation and escort cards.
THE CAKE This modern square fondant cake is adorned with rose gold hand cut tree silhouettes to mimic the venue's logo. The uniqueness of this cake comes in how it's displayed. The custom cut acrylic stand features the same tree design, offset slightly for a more dramatic presentation. So while it appears simple at first glance, a closer look reveals an added dimension with a third tree.
THE CAKE STAND We wanted to make a statement with a cake stand that would complement and accent the beautiful cake. We designed the clear acrylic stand with one of the cottonwood trees seen throughout the stationery suite. The entire stand was laser cut, the tree portion was bent into place and the base of the stand was adhered to top of the stand. The clear acrylic allows guests to see the matching tree on the cake through the acrylic tree.
THE FLORAL, LINENS AND TABLESCAPE The bouquet has orchids, feathers, and natural grasses that reflect the prairie. The floral on the table was set in linear aspen structures. The sweetheart table was nestled in front of the flagstone hearth filled with candlelight. Texture of the linen adds to natural elements of the Grand Patio.
