Wedding Wednesday: Geometric Inspiration
The Knot recently hosted an industry event at Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House and I jumped at the opportunity to work with an amazing group of vendors. My inspiration for this cake was a beautiful modern geometric pattern in white, grey, pink and plum over a concrete background. I was also asked to incorporate gold for a more chic feel.
I chose to use a mixture of square, hexagon and round tiers for a modern feel. The concrete and geometric pattern was emulated on the bottom tier for a solid design base. Hints of gold were added throughout the pattern to tie the cake to the event color scheme.
The top tiers were textured and dusted to create the look of concrete. I added several hexagon cutouts in a variety of sizes as a play off of the original inspiration.
The central pink tier was painted with edible gold detailing reminiscent of the Denver skyline.
From the linens to the floral cake stand and hanging geometric shapes, every detail was well thought out by all of the vendors.
It was such a pleasure to work with this fabulous line up!
