Who’s That Puffing Down the Track? It’s Thomas! This adorable steam engine was the perfect centerpiece to a two-year old’s birthday cake and was so much fun to hand-craft! We even replaced Thomas’ signature number 1 on the engine to a number 2, reflecting the child’s age.
I am so excited to finally be able to talk about our experience on Food Network Challenge. So much goes on behind the scenes in order to put together a show like this. The viewer really only gets a snippet of what actually happens. Here is my abbreviated version (or not so abbreviated version)! I got the call from Challenge [...]
Here are some shots of our cake… The Denver Roller Dolls Logo was cut out of gumpaste and then stenciled with black royal icing. Adele did a fantastic job using our hand cut stencil! This was placed on the Jammer helmet (the person who score the points in Roller Derby.) Our referee tier was dedicated to the coach of the Bruising [...]

This stunning butter cream cake was adorned with champagne scrolls and gold flourishes. I love the alternating designs on different tiers. The scrolls lead your eye to the center tier of diamonds and pearls. The deep red roses add a touch of elegance and sophistication.

Check out this fantastic vintage wedding cake with diamond broaches. It features a beautiful hand piped scroll pattern in ivory. We adorned two of the tiers with a black fondant ribbon, but it looks like satin ribbon. Thanks to Revert Photo for the phenomenal pictures.
We had the opportunity to be a part of a very special wedding and created this henna inspired butter cream cake. Flavors included red velvet with cream cheese filling, zucchini lime cake with Chantilly cream, and vegan carrot cake. A huge thank you to Lisa Seaman at Story Lens Photography (www.storylensinc.com) for these stunning photos. Ceremony and [...]
It’s rare that we duplicate a cake exactly as it was originally done by another designer, but our bride had her heart set on this amazing western themed wedding cake. We made a silicone mold of a concho and then recreated them out of sugar. The chocolate fondant is embossed with a western floral design. [...]
I love the simplicity of this cake. It’s amazing what table decor can do to make your cake striking. The runners mimic the ribbon from the cake. This smooth buttercream cake was sprayed with shimmer and dusted with edible sparkles along the top surface of the cake which compliments the dangling crystal pedestal.

This cake was inspired by the couple’s invitation, which included a beautiful scroll design. We topped this cake with hand made sugar lilies.
Everything you need for a great evening… wine, cheddar cheese, sourdough bread… well okay maybe the mice and spilled wine would ruin it, but those mice sure are cute. The glass of red wine was made of poured sugar and looked quite realistic. And the wood grain board was the perfect base for this cake.
This buttercream cake was designed with paper in mind. Our bride brought us unique stationary from her wedding invitation and we recreated it with sugar. I love this color scheme of purple, green, and silver. The entire cake was sprayed with edible shimmer to make it sparkle!
Well it’s official, the episode of Food Network Challenge we competed in, will air on August 22, 2010. We will be hosting a viewing party so all of our friends can watch it with us. Check back for more information as August approaches.
I love making cakes that utilized inspiration from other components of the wedding. This cake was inspired by the couple’s invitation and location, the Beautiful Della Terra Mountain Châteaux in Estes Park. The branches were hand piped over stenciled pine cones. The copper birds were the perfect topper to compliment this design.
Mini tractors are so cute, especially when they are made out of cake. Avalon, one of our new decorators showed off her skills while making a tiny replica of a John Deere tractor. The tractor and grass were made of cake, the wheels are made of cereal treats, and the corn was made from gumpaste. Cake flavors: [...]
Avalon Yarnes is our newest addition to the decorating staff. She is a Denver, Colorado native. At the age of fifteen she found herself at a summer job behind the counter of a gourmet bakery handing out éclairs, cannolis and an array of other tasty pastries and cakes. She soon worked her way through the ranks working as a baker, cake [...]

Sarah and Chris, thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding day. This five tier cake was enrobed in white chocolate fondant and adorned with [...]
I adore this cake. It’s such a fun 1st birthday cake. We made the bananas out of dairy free chocolate cake for the little birthday boy to smash into.
This cake has a combination of designs scrolls through the center tier and random dots on the top and bottom tiers. It sits on a vintage silver plateau adding both height and style and is topped with a three letter monogram.
This cake was inspired by the brides gown. Hand made sugar appliqués and crystal sugar beads mimic the gowns stunning embroidery design. Cake flavors: Chocolate fudge cake with chocolate mousse Zucchini lime cake with cream cheese filling Espresso cake with Tiramisu filling
We made this Taz cake for a 66th surprise birthday. Taz is popping out of a chocolate cake box and eating through a long list of things this the birthday boy has accomplished and things he’s shared with his family.
