Rachael Teufel, owner of Intricate Icings Cake Design, specializes in custom wedding cakes, sculpted novelty cakes, and handmade gumpaste flowers. She started decorating about 8 years ago. At that time she was working as a physical therapist assistant and just needed a creative outlet. Rachael grew up baking with in the kitchen with her grandmother, so cake decorating seemed like the perfect activity. She took a few classes and baked a few cakes for friends and family, and before she knew it, she had a business without even trying. Rachael moved to Colorado in 2006 and that was a natural transition point for her to change careers and do something she loves… baking and decorating.
Rachael am extremely passionate about every cake she makes. Her cakes are artwork for your tastebuds. Rachael’s decorating style would be described as modern elegance, but prides herself in being able to create just about any design, whether it’s timeless and sophisticated or fun and whimsical. Each cake represents a new challenge and she enjoys every step of the process, from developing the initial concept to piping the last details. Running her own business means that she has both the responsibility and the pleasure of seeing each cake through to the end. For Rachael, there is no greater joy than seeing her creations put a smile on someone’s face…and some Yummies in their tummies!
Rachael has been married to her wonderful husband, John, for nine years. She is also the mother of a very energetic two-year old, Tyler.
Your cakes are impressive, beautiful AND fun in addition to being so very yummy. I am very happy to know your new bakery is all that you hoped for and deserve. I am always happy (and relieved) to learn a bride has chosen you for her all important wedding cake. I can’t believe your baby is two!! You did my wedding cake and at the time, he was brand new! We met you in your living room and your husband was home with the baby in the little carrier! How crazy!! I wanted to thank you again for my beautiful cake!! It was so amazing that I could have what ever I wanted! Even better, a year later when we enjoyed the top, it was such a treat to find a live not tucked inside that had been waiting there all year long!! You are such an inspiration! Thank you!

We love your work and have seen it through DeMaj Salon and Spa as well as some previous events at Primrose School of Erie. Any chance you will be opening up your bakery to carry items for walk-ins to purchase? It would be great to have a full service bakery in Erie.
